Liberty Double Eagles
1884-S $20 MS63 PCGS. From a liberal mintage of 916,000 pieces, the 1884-S Liberty double eagle is an abundant issue in circulated grades, and lower Mint State examples are not too hard to locate, but the issue becomes rare above MS63. This sharply detailed Select specimen exhibits lustrous orange-gold surfaces with a scattering of minor contact marks on both sides. PCGS has graded 28 numerically finer examples (1/17).
