1856 50C Liberty Octagonal 50 Cents, BG-916, R.6, MS62 PCGS. A rare variety struck by Robert B. Gray, using a Period One reverse die made by Antoine Louis Nouizillet. Gray's obverse die was new, and bears his initial below the bust. This smooth peach-gold representative has rich peach-gold toning, and differs from the Jay Roe specimen in that the date is clear, and clash marks are apparent on the central reverse field. Population: 3 in 62, 0 finer (1/17).
