Commemorative Gold
1915-S $2 1/2 Panama-Pacific Quarter Eagle MS64 PCGS. With a net distribution of just 6,749 pieces, the 1915 Panama-Pacific quarter eagle was not a huge success when issued, but now it is a favorite among gold and commemorative specialists alike. The unusual design was the combined work of Charles E. Barber (obverse) and George T. Morgan (reverse) for one of their most appealing collaborations. This near-Gem example is softly lustrous with greenish-gold patina. The strike is sharp for the issue, with only a few light abrasions.
