Alibag or Alibagh was the chief town of the former state of Kolaba. The name Alibagh means Alis garden. The Kolaba or Alibag rupee to which he refers was a variety of the ankushi rupee. Prinsep surpisingly, does not list either a Kolaba or Alibag rupee.
