Nabataean Kingdom, Petra. Syllaeus. 9 B.C.-A.D. 40 AE 14 (13.51 mm, 2.04 g, 2 h). Laureate head of Obodas III right, monograms lower right and left fields / Crossed cornucopiae, each with a pomegranate, ear of grain & bunch of grapes, [Aramaic letter "het" (Aretas' initial) between, perhaps under encrustation?]; monogram in lower left field . Cf. Meshorer N.C. 58 (for Aretas IV); Lindgren I 2516 (citing Meshorer N.C. 42 for Syllaeus ). Fine, sriking desert patina, multiple, parallel horizontal scratches, obverse.
Lindgren gives a coin with these same monograms in field to Syllaeus, although with no mention of the pomegranates, etc. Most other references give it to Aretas IV, but none appear to have anything like these monograms
