Die Emil Fischer Medaille wird alle zwei bis drei Jahre von der Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker (GDCh) für herausragende Arbeiten auf dem Gebiet der organischen Chemie verliehen und gilt als höchste Auszeichnung für Organiker in Deutschland. Erstmalig verliehen wurde die Medaille im Jahre 1912 an Fritz Hofmann (1866-1956). Bis ins Jahr 2016 wurde dieser renommierte Preis insgesamt 46-mal verliehen. Das vorliegende Exemplar erhielt der Universitätsprofessor Arthur Lüthringhaus (1906-1992) im Jahre 1967 u.a. für seine Untersuchungen über den Struktur und Bildungsmechanismus der Trithione und für seine Synthese von Ansa-Verbindungen mit neuartiger Molekülasymmetrie. st
