Pontic Kingdom. Mithradates VI. 120-63 B.C. AV stater (20 mm, 8.26 g, 12 h). Modern forgery. Copying Pergamon, year 3 of the Pergamene Era (86 B.C.). Diademed head of Mithradates VI right / ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΜΙΘΡΑΔΑΤΟΥ ΕΥΠΑΤΟΡΟΣ, stag grazing left; in left field, star-in-crescent; in right field, date (L sic for Γ) above ΠΕ (as opposed to the monogram of Pergamon); in exergue, monogram; all within Dionysiac wreath of ivy and fruit. IAPN BOC 2/3 p. 67 (same dies). Note that this coin is a modern forgery, fortunately not very deceptive, and is being offered as such for it's bullion value. The gold has not been tested for purity, but seems to be high. SOLD AS-IS, NO RETURNS.
