Bone hairpin decorated with a fashionable lady. Roman, late 1st-early 2nd centuries AD. Bone pin with finial carved in the form of a bust of a Roman lady, wearing elaborate hairstyle that was particularly fashionable during the Flavian and Trajanic periods, set on an ovoid base. Length: 12.8cm. A few miniscule chips, otherwise a rare and wonderfully-preserved piece.
