Thrace. Philippopolis. Lucius Verus. (161-169). AE.
Bare head right / River god Hebros reclining left, holding grain ears and reed, and resting elbow upon overturned urn from which liquid flows.
RPC IV online –; Varbanov –; Moushmov –; apparently unpublished. Good very fine. Extremely rare.
Though there is a type for Verus known featuring the river gof Hebros on the reverse, this is encountered with a longer reverse legend conveying the magistrate's name..
