ACHAEMENID PERSIA. Time of Darius I to Xerxes II (485-420 BC). AV daric (15mm, 8.36 gm). NGC MS 4/5 - 5/5, Fine Style. Persian king or hero in kneeling-running position right, holding spear and bow; quiver over shoulder / Rectangular incuse punch. Carradice Type IIIb A/B. Minor flatness at top of obverse, otherwise a superb daric!The Great King is rendered here in a particularly regal form, his long torso well-proportioned and elaborately draped, with a diagonal fold on his upper torso sharply rendered.
