George V gold Specimen 5 Dollars 1912 SP67 PCGS, Ottawa mint, KM26. The inaugural year from otherwise fleeting series, and notably the only date that received Specimen strikes, this current offering produces all the hallmarks of a superior Gem, including incredible pinpoint detailing throughout even the smallest motifs, and a satin-textured planchet the shade of a setting summer sun. As the lofty designation confirms, the open fields remain essentially untouched, and aside from a few isolated instances of russet color near the King's portrait, delicately colored with a hint of rose. A major rarity, particularly in this jewel-like level of preservation, often missing from collections, and sure to elicit a great deal of excitement from bidders. From the Schroeder Collection of Canadian Coins
