Newfoundland. Victoria gold Specimen 2 Dollars 1865 SP63 PCGS, London mint, KM5. Plain edge. Struck in medal alignment, this exquisite survivor presents the portrait of Victoria in frosty splendor, noticeably raised against the surrounding fields, and with impressive detailing throughout her effigy. The low-lying mirrors are filled with flash, which produces a wave of light that cascades around the devices when rotated. Few examples of this first-year-of-issue have been encountered, and it seems safe to assume that the number of Specimen strikes numbers at no more than 10 pieces. An altogether outstanding representative, complete with a coveted pedigree and incomparable eye appeal.Ex. Belzberg CollectionFrom the Schroeder Collection of Canadian Coins
