Charles III gold 8 Escudos 1771 NR-VJ AU50 NGC, Nuevo Reino mint, KM41, Fr-31, Cal-864. Featuring the cuirassed bust of Charles III and reversed crowned arms, this notable rarity presents handsomely toned olive-gold surfaces with a combination of minimal wear and weakness to the strike. Closer inspection reveals few handling marks for the age, and rather strong facial details across the King's portrait. An admirable selection in all regards, and currently surpassed in technical quality by only one coin at NGC (AU58) with no examples certified at the Mint State level. NGC has incorrectly listed the assayer as "VI."
Estimate: 4000-6000 USD
