Comoros
French Colony. Said Ali Ibn Said Omar 5 Francs AH 1308-A (1890) MS64 NGC, Paris mint, KM3, Dav-9, Lec-10. Mintage: 2,050. An endlessly sought world crown, rarely found in this lofty grade, with significant prooflike gleam in the fields and only the faintest touch of golden tone that clings to the far edges on both sides. As one would expect from the near-Gem grade, marks are very limited, with the most significant being a small concentration near the janbiya (Arab dagger) that has a relatively small impact on the eye-appeal. Among the very finest circulation strikes of this issue that we have encountered, and resultantly, a coin that is an obvious candidate for addition into an elite cabinet.
Estimate: 3000-5000 USD
