Costa Rica
Central American Republic gold 4 Escudos 1828 CR-F MS61 NGC, San Jose mint, KM16. An unquestioned Latin American classic, featuring the sun shining over 5 mountains peaks (representing Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica) on the obverse, and the native Ceiba tree, with its iconic tall base and broad canopy, on the reverse. For the date and denomination, this is among the nicest to survive, it's fields holding little evidence of handling and radiant luster throughout. A bit of softness in the sun's face is observed, but this is common to almost all survivors of the date. With only three examples graded at the Mint State level by NGC and PCGS combined, we expect this lovely example to attract spirited bidder competition.Ex. Richard Stuart Collection

Estimate: 15000-20000 USD
