Louis Philippe I gold Exposition Prize Medal 1840 MS62 NGC, 37mm/26.2g. By Depaulis. Visually engaging, this prize medal from the 1840 Exposition was awarded to Henri de Rudder for his historical paintings. The obverse features the high-relief, laureate head of Louis Philippe, surrounded by prooflike fields that project a voluminous amount of mint bloom and the reverse bears the struck/engraved inscription of the event. While a scattering of handling marks are observed throughout the fields, the visual impressiveness of this medal far exceeds its numerical grade.Ex.
