Schauenburg-Pinneberg. Adolf XIII Taler 1590 AU55 NGC, Altona mint, Abraham Symons as mintmaster, Dav-8241. Issued by a branch of the family that had ruled Schleswig-Holstein until 1459, this very rare Taler represents a county which would eventually be absorbed into the Duchy of Holstein upon the extinction of the Holstein-Pinneberg line in 1640. The strike is excellent and the surfaces bear few marks beyond light wear and a couple of small planchet flaws. This is a very uncommon opportunity for the Taler specialist to add a representative specimen of this ephemeral county to their cabinet.
