Great Britain
Victoria Proof Florin 1881 PR63 NGC, Royal mint, KM746.4, S-3900. Reeded edge. A very rare type in proof, and in fact the only example seen by either NGC or PCGS. In the past 15 years, there has only been one other offering of a proof 1881 florin- this same coin in November, 2009, where it hammered at 2,000 GBP ($3,300 at the time). The interim seven and a half years has seen the market for British proofs expand tremendously in terms of value and size, and so one can scarcely use that as any sort of marker for what it might fetch today. This coin has exceptional multi-hued toning and no surface marks worthy of mention. Overall a fabulous piece, and an opportunity that the collector of 19th century British proofs should not take lightly.
