Guatemala
Central American Republic 8 Reales 1840/37 NG-MA/BA MS64 NGC, Nueva Guatemala mint, KM4. Over-assayer not noted on the NGC insert. Perhaps the most visually capturing example that we've encountered from this series, and a candidate for the ultimate type representative as such, with minimal toning and superb gleam in the fields and no post-strike marks to speak of. Most impressive however is the strike, which on the majority of survivors is short of full, but remains impressively crisp on this coin, with the mountains and corresponding Ceiba tree leaves showing in peerless clarity. Additionally, no evidence of pre-strike planchet adjustments are apparent; a near miracle occurrence for the type. All told, a coin that certainly belongs in the finest of collections, and a certainly to attract spirited bidding as a result.

Estimate: 6000-9000 USD
