Peter II silver Specimen Coronation Medal 1728 SP61 PCGS, by O. Kalashnikov, Diakov-66.4 (R2), 60mm. Obv. Laureate, and armored, bust of Peter II right, with OK on truncation of arm. Rev. Radiant all-seeing eye above pedestal, with Imperial regalia on pillow, Crowned in Moscow, 25 February 1728 in exergue. Superbly struck, with bold relief and prooflike fields. The surfaces display minor hairlines, and light russet and blue toning around the periphery. The reverse shows a touch of light russet patina. An extremely rare medal, unlisted in Reichel and Smirnov. This is the first we have seen and we can reference no other examples in silver.
