Peter III Rouble 1762 CПБ-HК AU50 NGC, St. Petersburg mint, Bitkin-11, Diakov-7. Obv. Armored bust of Peter III right. Rev. Crowned double-headed eagle, holding orb and scepter, with date above. Silvery-gray patina, with very minor flan flaws and a nice strike for the type. An opportunity to own a choice coin from the very brief reign of Peter III, the German-born grandson of Peter the Great and husband to Catherine the Great, though generally viewed as a highly unpopular leader within Russia, and whose death may in fact have been the result of a plot by Catherine herself.
