PHOENICIA. Tyre. Ca. 126/5 BC-AD 67/8. AR shekel (14.00 gm). NGC Choice Fine 4/5 - 3/5. Dated CY 140 (AD 14/5) (?). Laureate bust of Melqart right, lion skin tied at neck / Eagle standing left on prow, with palm frond over shoulder; to left, PM (date) above club; to right, KP above monogram, bet between legs. RPC 4655. DCA 922; HGC 10, 358. Decently centered, heavy deposit to outer right reverse rim, otherwise pleasing despite rather worn, nicked-up surfaces. Note: NGC suggests date is unreadable, but ghostly lettering can be discerned in sharp sidelight.

Estimate: 800-1000 USD
