CHINA--FOREIGN BANKS. Banque De L'Indo-Chine. 100 Dollars, 1901. P-S440Cp. Proof. PCGS Gem New 66 PPQ.
Shanghai. This piece will likely be the highlight of the series as it is not fathomable that such a pristine example of this extremely rare and virtually unavailable piece exists. Allegorical figures flank the denomination obligations written in bold black ink at center. The muted orange allegorical figures, boats, and intricate cornices that create the border show so much detail one must spend quite a bit of time revisiting each area of the border to fully appreciate its intricacy. Roulette SPECIMEN punches are punched vertically on each side of the design written down both the English and French denomination texts. Near 3-D like embossing present through the holder, on fully original paper with a well center design printed with excellent registration upon glancing at the reverse. We are excited to offer this gem for the first time, and look forward to this rarity crossing our podium. PCGS Gem New 66 PPQ.
