HONG KONG. Chartered Bank of India, Australia & China. 50 Dollars, 1931-34. P-56. PMG Very Fine 30.
An early issue 50 Dollars design printed by Waterlow and Sons. We have not recently handled one of these examples as they are increasingly difficult to come by like most 50 Dollar denominations. This example features a brown color. This was from the last series of the CBIAC. All notes printed after, were just from The Chartered Bank, and did not feature a 50 Dollar design until the second run was released after the switch from Waterlow to TDLR. PMG Very Fine 30.
