CHINA. Minister of Training Excellence Award with Lion Medal, Year 31 (1905). EXTREMELY FINE.
The military training award 36 mm, lightly gilt silver, the Lion Medal 71 x 32mm in cast bronze. Both are set in a contemporary fitted leather, silk, and plush case by R. & S. Garrard, Goldsmiths and Jewellers, London. The Training medal and bears the image of two facing dragons enclosing a pair of crossed rifles, the whole within a wreath; Reverse: Chinese inscriptions in concentric circular bands. Pale golden patina. The Lion Medal depicts an image of a lion at the top of either side. Below the lion on one side is a three line Chinese inscription, and on the other, a single large character. The medal is pierced near the top for suspension. EXTREMELY FINE.
