Putuo which is an island southeast of Shanghai in Zhejiang province lying in the Eastern sea of China. For over a thousand years Mt. Putuo has been a site of pilgrimage as the center of Guanyin worship and is considered as the bodhimanda where Guanyin gained enlightenment.
