Herbert William Borough, architect, age 23, born at West Maitland, NSW; father, Reverend Anthony Watson Brough who in 1920s was serving with the London Mission in Erode, Coimbator District, South India; Enl.23Apr1915 at Light Horse Depot, Liverpool, NSW with previous service of 6-9 months with Senior Cadets; Emb.07Jun1915; TOS 1st LHR, his brother's regiment at Gallipoli; commissioned 2/Lt 27Mar1916; WIA 01May1917 with 105 Bty 5FAB at France, shrapnel wound compound fracture left thigh and DOW; buried at Bapaume Communal Cemetery; entitled to 1914-15 Star which was posted to his father in South India and receipt was acknowledged.
