Macedon, Kingdom of Philip II, (359-336 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (14.30 g), Amphipolis mint, issued c. 342/1-329/8 B.C., obv. head of Zeus laureate to right, dotted border, rev. naked youth or small man (Philip II), on horseback to right, Janus head below, above FILIP POU, (cf.S.6683, cf.Le Rider Group IIB 278-9, [Pl.34, p.66 same dies as D132/R-], SNG ANS 510-520). Attractive, bright, nearly extremely fine and a rare symbol with a small cut on reverse. Provenance - Ex Noble Numismatics Sale 76 (lot 3176), Sale 72 (lot 3267) and Terry Naughton Collection.
