Macedon, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver drachm, (4.18 g), Lampsacus mint, issued c.310-301 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with dotted border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, KI to left, ME monogram below throne, to right ALEXANDRO[U]. (cf.S.6730, Price 1406, BMC 1406a-h, M.821, SNG Cop.988). Bright, nearly extremely fine, scarce. Provenance - Ex Dr Barrie Towers Collection; Noble Numismatics Sale 92 (lot 5044), Sale 77 (lot 3132) and Terry Naughton Collection.
