Egypt, Kingdom of, Ptolemy VI Philometor, (180-145 B.C.), silver tetradrachm of sole first reign (180-170 B.C.), issued year 85 = 178/187 B.C., (14.23 g), uncertain mint in Cyprus, obv. diademed head of Ptolemy I to right, with aegis, rev. eagle to left with closed wings, standing on thunderbolt, around SWTHROS PTOLEMAIOU, to left PE to left, (cf.S.7891, Sv.1107, Carlen 2-5 (Obv.2 Rev. -)., SNG Cop. 1331 [same obverse die], Cohen Dated Coins of Antiquity 73, Pitchfork -). Good very fine/extremely fine, very rare with only 8 examples noted by Carlen.
