Lincoln Cents
1925-D 1C MS65 Red PCGS. Always elusive in the Red Gem grade, the 1925-D is a notorious strike rarity (as is its branch mint compadre, the poorly struck 1925-S). This Denver Mint cent is sharper than most, although we note traces of die erosion at the outermost legends. The flame orange surfaces are highly lustrous and free of all but the most minor, ticklike marks. Interesting quicksilver-blue accents occupy recesses on the portrait, margins, and around the lettering -- an alloy-related quirk of the copper/tin/zinc bronze composition. A few random, tiny flecks appear on both sides but they are of little concern. Population: 67 in 65 (1 in 65+) Red, 2 finer (2/17).
