1857 10C PR64 PCGS. F-101, R.6. While the exact number of proofs struck in 1857 is unknown, an estimated mintage of 70 pieces may be on the high side. PCGS suggests 30 to 50 pieces are known. This example is faintly iridescent beneath slate and olive-gray toning. The mirrored fields retain their reflectivity beneath the toning, while the coin is exceptionally well-struck and Choice for the assigned grade. A diagnostic die line from the rim to R in AMERICA helps confirm the proof die pair. Population: 12 in 64, 9 finer (2/17).
