Bust Quarters
1828 25C 25 Over 50C, B-3, R.5, Good 6 PCGS. The U.S. Mint struck 102,000 1828-dated quarters. Despite the low mintage, it appears that the facility ran out of problem-free reverse dies, and had to resurrect the blundered denomination reverse die, held in storage since 1822. The mintage for this variety, B-3, was undoubtedly small, struck only until the new B-4 reverse die became available. This attractive cream-gray example has sharp legends except for the mostly worn E PLURIBUS UNUM.
