Bust Quarters
1834 25C B-5, R.5, MS62 PCGS. A remarkable example of the rarest 1834 quarter variety. The obverse displays splendid orange-gold, powder-blue, and lavender-red toning. The reverse exhibits rich orange, violet, and aquamarine patina. The fields are semiprooflike, and the strike is bold except near the shoulder curl, and opposite atop the right (facing) wing. Possibly the finest survivor of the die marriage, challenged only by the John J. Pittman MS62 NGC example.
Ex: Auction '84 (Superior, 7/1984), lot 113.
From The R. Thayer Sheets Yorktown Collection.
