Bust Half Dollars
1821 50C O-107, R.3, MS64 NGC. The position of star 7 is higher in the field than any other 1821 variety and points to the front edge of the cap rather than to the headband. A challenging variety, the O-107 is by far the scarcest of the 1821 die pairs. This example displays sharp stars and rich, charcoal-gray toning at the borders with reddish-gold interior toning. Slight high point blending on the upper cap folds and drapery is noted, yet the strike is otherwise bold. Only a few scattered light abrasions exist on this pleasing and softly lustrous near-Gem.
