Bust Half Dollars
1828 50C Square Base 2, Small 8s, Large Letters, O-116, R.2, MS64 PCGS. Diagnostic parallel die defect lines are visible left of the date on this O-116 example, from an obverse die that was used earlier for O-115. The surfaces are otherwise essentially mark-free on this Choice Mint State 1828 half dollar. The fields and devices display smooth, satin luster and sharp central details with slight peripheral weakness, especially through the stars that are mostly flat. Both sides are richly toned in violet-gray shades mixed with splashes of attractive blue, burnt-orange, and gold toning.
