Reeded Edge Half Dollars
1837 50C GR-4, R.3, MS63 PCGS. One of four uses of the obverse, the GR-4 variety is scarcer than the more-available GR-5 but paired with a different reverse. This is prooflike example on both sides (undesignated) with colorful, medium-toned surfaces that display shades of cerulean-blue, lilac, and glimpses of lavender. Pale-gold luster covers the sharply struck silver centers. A diagnostic, long die crack branches at the bust point, curving upwards across the cheek and cap to star 8. A few light marks do not diminish the Select Uncirculated appeal.
