Seated Half Dollars
1873-CC 50C No Arrows, Small CC, WB-101, Die Pair 1, R.3, XF40 PCGS. Both 1873-CC No Arrows variants share a common reverse with a Small CC mintmark. The date placement is the simplest way of distinguishing Die Pair 1 from the rarer Die Pair 2. The Carson City Mint struck 122,500 half dollars before arrows were added, signifying an insignificant weight increase. These No Arrows coins are slightly scarcer, but each enjoy ever-strong demand because of their Western origin. A trace of dappled golden-orange and blue patina adheres to the recesses, while the exposed areas are bright silver-gray. Well-struck motifs display expected friction. Population (both No Arrows varieties): 16 in 40, 37 finer (2/17).
