Proof Barber Half Dollars
1901 50C PR65 PCGS. Splashes of rainbow toning daub the margins of this lightly toned Gem proof. Pale tan and reddish-gold patina embellishes the mirrored silver surfaces, moreso on the reverse than the obverse. Delicate die polish lines of Mint origin appear under a loupe. The proof mintage of 813 pieces welcomed the 20th century with minor design changes to the Barber half design. This sharply struck example exhibits the Type Two obverse, with WE not touching the nearby leaf. Population: 28 in 65, 36 finer (2/17).
