Walking Liberty Half Dollars
1916-S 50C MS64 PCGS. The 1916-S tends to be weakly struck on Liberty's hand and head and on the eagle's breast (Bruce Fox, 1993). Not so on the present near-Gem. While the feathers on the eagle's left (right facing) leg are weak, the breast feathers are strong, as are Liberty's head and left hand and adjacent branches. Highly lustrous surfaces are essentially untoned, and while possessing a couple of minute obverse marks, are free of the prominent abrasions that typify this issue.
Ex: Central States Signature (Heritage, 5/2007), lot 2961.
