Half Cents
1855 1/2 C C-1, B-1, R.1, MS65 Red PCGS. Lustrous terra-cotta red blends into flame-orange at the margins of this lustrous Gem half cent. Pale-blue accents join a peppering of microscopic carbon flecks that seem strategically placed to be inconsequential. The strike is centrally sharp but less-crisp at the margins, where some of the stars are rounded and about one-third of the dentils are mushy. Our EAC grade MS65. PCGS reports no finer coins in Red. Population: 33 in 65 Red, 0 finer (1/17).
