Mercury Dimes
1916-D 10C MS62 Full Bands PCGS. Mercury dimes, along with Lincoln cents, Buffalo nickels, and Morgan dollars, easily rank among the most widely collected series in all of American numismatics. The set contains a number of semikeys, in-demand varieties, and condition rarities, but no other issue holds a candle to the 1916-D. With its meager production of 264,000 coins, this unchallenged, first-year key is far and a way the lowest-mintage date in the series. All examples from Good through Mint State are highly desirable.
This attractive, richly toned MS62 Full Bands dime displays variegated lavender-gray, ice-blue, and golden patina over surfaces that show minimal marks for the grade. The legends and central motifs, including the bands of the fasces, are razor-sharp.
