Seated Quarters
1870-CC 25C VF20 PCGS. Briggs 1-A. The famous Carson City Mint began coinage operations in 1870 and a modest mintage of 8,340 Seated Liberty quarters was accomplished. All of the coins were released into circulation at the time of issue and few were saved for numismatic purposes. The 1870-CC is among the rarest Carson City quarters, and only one example has been identified in Mint State. The present coin is a pleasing VF20 specimen, with a strong LIBERTY. All other lettering and the date remain legible. The surfaces are toned in shades of dove-gray and blue-steel and are free of large or distracting abrasions. Population: 4 in 20, 23 finer (1/17).
