Bust Half Dollars
1834 50C Large Date, Large Letters, O-101, R.1, MS65 PCGS. Only three varieties combine the Large Date obverse and the Large Letters reverse, and the joined forecurl immediately identifies the O-101 die marriage. Despite the lack of die cracks, and minimal clash marks, this piece represents a later die state with the stars drawn toward the border dentils. A lovely Gem, this piece has natural gray-gold toning over frosty mint luster. PCGS has only certified two finer examples of the Large Date, Large Letters type, and just nine finer examples of the date (2/17).
