Seated Half Dollars
1868 50C WB-101 MS65 PCGS. All Seated Liberty halves from the 1860s are notably rare in Gem Mint State condition regardless of date or mint. This unquestionably original example is immersed in gunmetal blue, rose-gold, and slate-gray toning throughout both sides with soft mint luster held in reserve beneath the thick patina. The fields and devices are free of marks or problems of any kind, and the strike is quite sharp. Perhaps as few as 50 Mint State examples of the Philadelphia issue survive in all grades despite the mintage of 417,600 pieces. Population: 6 in 65, 2 finer (2/17).
