Early Dollars
1802 $1 Narrow Date, B-6, BB-241, R.1, AU53 PCGS. Bowers Die State III. Narrow Date. The date is less widely spaced than other 1802 varieties, although the gap between 8 and 0 remains wider than the space between the other digits. An available variety, with more survivors than all the other 1802 dollars combined, and therefore one of the most frequently sought varieties of the entire Draped Bust series by date and type collectors. This lightly toned example retains substantial luster for the AU53 level, with faint pinkish-gold toning over sharply struck, attractive silver surfaces. A few light marks and modest wear do not limit the eye appeal in the least.
