Seated Dollars
1871-CC $1 VF35 PCGS. OC-1, High R.4. At just 1,376 pieces, the mintage of the 1871-CC dollar is the lowest of all four Carson City issues in the Seated dollar series. This date is scarce in all grades, but Mint State and AU coins are nothing short of rare. Eye appeal is also hard to come by on the 1871-CC, and this makes even a lower-grade coin challenging to locate. Problem-free pieces are rare regardless of grade. This Choice VF representative shows bold detail, including on the word LIBERTY, which is often indistinct on the BER in this condition. Wear is light. Both sides display deep olive-brown toning and no distracting marks. A loupe reveals a few tiny, scattered planchet laminations upon careful scrutiny of the surfaces.
