1879-CC $1 Capped Die, VAM-3, MS64 PCGS. A Top 100 Variety. A large CC mintmark was struck over the remains of a smaller CC, after the first mintmark was partially effaced, creating the popular VAM-3 variety. This attractive Choice specimen offers well-detailed, frosty design elements and lightly marked surfaces that show much prooflike reflectivity in the fields. PCGS has graded 13 numerically finer examples of this variety (2/17).
