Morgan Dollars
1893-O $1 MS64 PCGS. CAC. From a mintage of 300,000 coins, the 1893-O is the lowest-production New Orleans issue in the entire Morgan dollar series. Like all dollars struck across the four mints in 1893, examples of the 1893-O are always in demand. Circulated coins are available, while lower Mint State examples (MS60 to MS63) are scarce. Choice Uncirculated dollars are very scarce, often the target of those for whom an MS65 is beyond reach. There are probably no more than 10 Gems extant.
This fully brilliant near-Gem is characteristically defined with incomplete detail over Liberty's ear and the eagle's breast feathers. There is minor chatter around Liberty's neck and above IN GOD WE TRUST, but the remaining areas are remarkably clean. Population: 89 in 64 (3 in 64+), 6 finer. CAC: 18 in 64, 0 finer (2/17).
