Gold Dollars
1883 G$1 MS67+ PCGS. Gold dollars generally did not see circulation in the waning years of the series, which came to a end in 1889. Instead, they were struck for collectors and those who gave them out as gifts. The Mint produced 10,800 gold dollars in 1883, and examples are accessible through MS66. The date becomes very scarce in MS67. Glittering mint frost enlivens near-flawless, rose-gold surfaces. The curls, cotton bolls, and wreath elements display razor-sharp definition. There are 16 higher-graded entries at PCGS (2/17).
